The Mysteries of Chartres Cathedral

Sylvia Francke, author of ‘The Tree of Life and The Holy Grail.’ Is an anthroposophist, member of the RILKO (Research Into Lost Knowledge Organisation) Council, and of the Francis Bacon Society Council Chartres Cathedral, standing on an ancient sacred site south west of Paris, represents the highest achievement in the flowering of Gothic architecture. Its orientation, close to midsummer sunrise, is in contrast to the north eastern orientation of most Christian churches and it has been a place of pilgrimage for thousands of years. The iconography in stone and stained glass presents us with the rich content of the Platonically inspired teachings of the School of Chartres which flourished between the tenth and the thirteenth centuries.
